The Gray Side of School

A million colors all around
But gray is all I see
Rainbows and such sweet sunsets
But no, they’re not for me

Gently they swayed to and fro
The blades of vibrant grass
A minute more of this gentle peace?
Alas, it was time for class

I dreamt of living on a mountain-top,
even as a simple clerk.
My eyes opened, my cheek was red:
‘You idiot, where’s your homework?’

I rested under a luscious tree
And felt its living shade
‘The trees can wait’, my silly thought
I left to collect my grade
